What’s keeping your leftover food clean and ready for the next meal? So many of us will grab a plastic storage bag, plastic wrap, or maybe a plastic storage container to toss those leftovers into. Maybe it’s a habit; those plastic ones were all the rage when I was a kid in the 80s. But, as we start to minimize the role plastics have in our house, we can look at better options, like glass food storage containers!

Glass containers have been around longer than plastic, but many folks jumped onto the plastic train because they were new, lighter, etc. Well now that we are starting to be more aware of our plastic use and how it can affect both the food that’s in them as well as their contributions to the waste stream, glass storage containers are back in style. We’ve had a couple of nice glass food storage sets in our house since it became “our house” (thanks, wedding guests!) and they’re still in use today. And yes, a few have broken along the way, but that’s a benefit to having a larger set; you’ve got some pieces to spare. And, if you’re not already a meal planner (as in prepping all your food for the week and having individual meal containers in the refrigerator) this may spark your interest, as glass food storage containers are beloved by meal preppers everywhere.
